I have always loved taking photos as a kid, but i first really started taking and archiving my photos back in 2022 (althougth according to the metadata on the photos, and the camera, I started back in 2007), and have since been keeping up. So what have I been taking photos of? Storms, lots and lots of storms. If you're interested in where i got my love of storms, check out the Meteorology page.
So the camera that I use is this, the EOS 2000D, or the rebel t7 if you're american. Its a decent camera, but I do have my gripes with it. The video on it sucks, it can only do 1080p @ 24fps, and for reasons I've yet to understand, the max amount of time you can record is just under 12 minutes. However, the photos it can produce are really good. The Resolution for each photo is 6000x4000 pixels, which I love, lots of detail, but im currently running out of storage on my pc. But, overall, i do love this camera, and it has held up against alot, freezing cold temps, being dropped several times (I have butter fingers, and my old tripod wasnt the most stable, probably since it was broken), along with being absolutely drenched. To sum it up, the body itself is durable and has held its weight, rather, the software on it sucks, which is mostly just a Cannon thing.
As I've mentioned before, I have used some other cameras, one of the first ones I ever used was a hand-me-down from my mother. It was an old sony digital camera from the late 2000's. It was quite interesting to get the photos off the camera, since this was before SD cards were the standard, so what I had to do was plug the camera into my pc with a USB cord, and then get the files off from there. Speaking of the cord, that is also how I charged the camera, since the battery charger for it was long gone.
I use 3 different lenses, depending on what im shooting. Typically, I use a 55mm-75mm lense, works good when im taking photos of storms that arent too far away. However, I do have a 15mm-35mm wide angle, which I love to use for linear storms, as they can span for as long as the eye can see. Lastly, i have a 55mm-250mm telephoto lense, which I tend to use for race photography. I love to get up close and personal shots of the cars/drivers.
